We all know it’s 4th of July when everyone is wearing red, white and blue as they shop for their burgers and hotdogs that they will slap on the grill at the all-day barbecue they plan to attend where they will sip on their Budweiser, slowly becoming more and more incoherent as they wait for the firework show that night. That’s just the American way.
Hopefully between the burgers and booze, these party-goers will be thinking about what this day really marks: the act of our forefathers declaring the independence of the United States from British rule.
But now we’ll get to the fun stuff: the candy! Here’s our version of the perfect 4th of July candy buffet! Continue reading →

Last week my son asked me to help him to create a candy bouquet Father’s Day gift for his dad. Excellent idea! I thought. My first idea was to do a black and white themed bouquet. I selected a simple glass bottle to use as a vase. I stuffed it with black shredded paper, next I arranged three black and white swirl lollipops in the vase and I finished the arrangement with an over sized white bow. Continue reading →

So, you are browsing the candy by color category at BulkCandyStore.com and a thought bubble pops over your head – How much candy do I need for this event? Well, The general consensus among party planners is that you need approximately eight ounces of candy per guest. So lets do the math – if 25 party goers RSVP yes to your event, then you will need 200 ounces of candy or 12.5 pounds – that’s 25 people, times 8 OZs of candy equals 200 OZs. Divide the 200 ounces by 16 ’cause 16 oz = 1lb and you will need to buy 12.5 lbs of candy. (I bet you did not know that math was this sweet:) Now, I know some of your guests may take more than 8 ounces, but if your friends are like mine, some will be watching their weight, so they will take less or they may leave the delicious candy treats behind – yes, I did take that into account – it all balances out. Yes, cake pops are all the rage, but how did they come to be? The concept of a ball of sweet cake is actually not new, I suspect that some inspiration was derived from donut holes, which are sweet dough balls glazed or coated with glaze or cinnamon and sugar crumb. Donut holes; however, are considered more of a breakfast item with only a basic presentation quality. They are yummy and fun to eat, but a tray of donut holes just doesn’t have that “wow” factor we all strive for, especially when selecting party foods. Continue reading →
