However, Pez was invented in Austria in 1927 by Eduard Haas III and was originally a small peppermint candy- hence the name “Pez,” which comes from the German word for peppermint, “Pfefferminz.” In 1948, Pez started being sold in dispensers, which were simple small rectangular boxes. Since its creation, Pez now comes in a variety of different flavors and is sold in a variety of dispensers, from Superhero dispensers to Star Wars dispensers to Frozen dispensers!
