World's Largest Gummi Bear Giveaway!

Wednesday, 11 November 2009 15:23 by kens

As many of you know, we recently picked up a new line of Giant Gummi Bears. The Giant Gummi Bears (available alone or on a stick) weigh in a big 1/2 lb and are 4 inches tall. That makes it about 90 times larger than a regular gummi bear. But wait, that's the little guy. The World's Largest Gummi Bear weighs in at 5 pounds! Each one is 5.5" wide, 3.5" deep and 9" tall - the equivalent of 1400 regular sized gummy bears! All I can say is - that is one Huge Bear!

We're so excited about these guys that we're giving one away! All you have to do to enter is comment on this post answering the question "What would you do with a 5 pound gummi bear?" The person who gives us the best answer, gets a free World's Largest Gummi Bear. We will also award a Giant Gummi Bear to each of the next two best answers. The contest will end on Saturday, Nov 29, 2009

The only rule is no obscene, adult or pornographic answers - any comments of that nature will be removed immediately and will be disqualified.

Das Lollis

Tuesday, 23 June 2009 21:31 by kens

In our quest to bring you the newest and coolest candy, we have just put up a set of lollipops, Das Lollis, that are some of the most unique we've ever seen! Das Lollis are all natural lollipops with very bold flavors. The lollipops are available in four flavors:

  • Man Bait - Real smoked bacon pieces in a maple syrup lolliop. They call it man bait, but I know a few women who would like them as well! In fact, most people would love this sweet and saory combination. If you are one of those people who thinks that bacon makes everything better, or a McGriddle®   lover, this is the lollipop for you!
  • Fab-O-Pom -  Imagine the sweet and healthy combination of natural pomegranate and oranges in a lollipop and you begin to understand this fabulous lollipop creation.  These lollipops are  a sweet and tangy fusion of heart-healthy real pomegranate extract and fragrant orange oil with tiny pieces of orange zest.
  • Carmelini Me Happy- Ok, a goofy name, but a really tasty lollipop. Das Foods first started by creating salted caramels and now they've brought that great flavor to a lollipop. But wait, there's more! In addition to the Fleur De Sel sea salt crystals, these lolllipops are infused with a lavendar extract, making this a really unique sweet and salty treat.
  • Naughty Ginger - Personally I always figured Maryanne would be the naughty one (get it Gilligan's Island). Actually,  they call this delicious Ginger pop naughty ecause it is sweet, tangy and tantalizingly spicy all at once! Small bits of candied ginger are complemented by lemon that tickles the mouth and can help soothe an upset stomach. Tangy Lemon and bits of Ginger - spicy and flavorful!
Try them, you are sure to like them! Das Lollis  5u86exm9ni

Colored Sixlets and Gumballs

Monday, 8 June 2009 21:30 by kens

We took a huge step forward today in our candy by color selection. We added individual colored sixlets and gumballs. The sixlets are crunchy candy coated chocolate balls available in a variety of colors.  On the gumball side we added a few popular color, with more on the way. Two of my favorite new ones are the black and white sixlets and gumballs. We have seen a growing interest in black and white candy as more and more people add candy buffets to formal events. Look for more colors coming in the near future!

Beemans, Clove and BlackJack Gum

Tuesday, 26 May 2009 17:34 by kens

They're back! Old time classic gums Beemans, Clove and BlackJack are being made again. This only happens once every three years or so. Bulk Candy Store has them in stock now, so get them while you can. Here is  some information about them:

Beemans gum is a chewing gum invented by Ohio physician Dr. Edward E. Beeman in the late 19th century. Beeman originally marketed the gum as a digestiuon aid, since it was made of pepsin powder and chicle. It became a part of the Adams Company line in 1898, and continued on after the purchase of Adams by Warner-Lambert in 1962. Production ceased in 1978 due to lagging sales.  The gum was brought back in  1985, as part of a nostalgia campaign,  along with Clove and Black Jack chewing gums. The original wrapper had a pig logo, but an investor later replaced it with a logo featuring a picture of Dr. Beeman, which helped to increase sales. Beemans is currently produced by Cadbury Adams as a nostalgia gum along with Clove and Black Jack. Beemans gum has a minty sort of flavor that many people love.

Black Jack Gum is an anise (licoirce) flavored chewing gum. In 1869, exiled former Mexican president and general Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna (infamous for his victory over the Alamo defenders) was living in New Jersey. He brought a ton of Mexican chicle with him, in hopes of selling it to raise funds to help him return to power in his own country. He persuaded Thomas Adams, an inventor, to purchase it with the intent to use the chicle as a rubber substitute. That didn't work, but he noticed that Santa Anna liked to chew the chicle, which the ancient Mayans had done.  Adams boiled a small batch of chicle in his kitchen to create a chewing gum. He gave some to a local store to see if people would buy it; they did and he began production. Adams begain adding flavorings to his gum and in 1884, he began adding licorice flavoring and called his invention Adams' Black Jack, the first flavored gum in the U.S. It was also the first gum to be offered in sticks.

Black Jack Gum was sold well into the 1970s, when production ceased due to slow sales. Adams became part of the American Chicle Company, which was purchased by the Warner-Lambert Company in 1962, which became part of Pfizer in 2000. In 2002, Adams was purchased by the Cadbury Company.

Clove Gum  tastes like, well, cloves!  The distinctive flavor of Clove Gum has made it a popular item. Clove gum has been manufactured since 1914 by the Thomas Adams Company. Commercial production of gum dates only to the mid-1800s, so Clove Gum is one of the oldest continuously sold flavored gums on the market. It was especially popular in the Prohibition era, when people believed that they could cover up the scent of alcohol on their breath by chewing Clove Gum. Like Black Jack and Beemans, Clove gum is now produced by Cadbury Adams
